Mr. Julius Kwame Kpekpena – Chairman

Mr. Julius Kwame Kpekpena joined the Inter-Halls Christian Fellowship, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus branch of GHAFES in 1987.  For two academic years, he served as the Assistant Secretary of the Fellowship.

Since graduation in 1991, Mr. Kpekpena has been an active Associate of GHAFES.  In the year 2010, he responded to an invitation to serve on the Governing Board of the Fellowship.  He has been a member of Council since.

Mr. Kpekpena is married to another GHAFES Associate, Enyonam.  The two have a son, Senam.

Mr. Kpekpena is an Electrical Engineer and a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering with over Twenty-four years of experience in the electric utility business. He held various senior management positions in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), including the position of Director of Engineering.  

Mr. Kpekpena also holds a Master of Science degree in Energy and a Diploma in Theology.  He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA).

Isaac Mensah-Newton – National Director

Mr. Isaac Mensah-Newton has served as a staff of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students-GHAFES for the past 12 years. He has played a number of key roles, including National Director (April 2019 to Date), Acting National Director (September 2018-March, 2019), Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (August 2016-April 2017), National Programs Coordinator (2013-2018), Training Secretary-Accra – Zone (now South East Zone) (2008-2013).

Isaac, while in the University of Cape Coast (UCC), was an active member of GHAFES-UCC Chapter and eventually served as its president for the 2006/2007 academic year. During the same period, Isaac served as Chairman of the Students’ National Executive Committee (SNEC).

In 2007, Isaac volunteered for a year to join the CAREFORCE – A United Kingdom Charity Organization (Registered Charity number 279443) and served as Youth Worker at the St. Michael & All Angels Church, Blackheath-South-East London.

Isaac, while in London and in 2008, successfully completed the Philip Project course  – which aims to contribute towards the training of faithful Bible teachers among Christian international students and professionals from all over the world residing in the UK. Isaac’s skills and character, through the Philip Project, was developed to teach the Scriptures with accuracy, relevance and passion.

Isaac holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Project Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

Isaac is married to Vivian Mensah-Newton and they have three children – Lois, Eunice and Immanuel. Isaac worships at the Trinity United Church, Legon, where he is former member of the Church Council and the Evangelism Committee.

Yaw Appiah-Lartey – Senior Treasurer

Yaw Appiah-Lartey is a Chartered Accountant with over 12 years “top 4” accounting firm (Deloitte, PwC and Ernst & Young) experience in providing accounting and financial advisory services to public and private sector clients. He is the Financial Advisory Leader in Deloitte Ghana responsible for corporate finance, M&A transactions, due diligence reviews, financial modelling, business valuations, deal structuring and negotiations. He has worked in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Yaw also serves on boards and executive committees of religious and social organisations. He is currently the Senior Treasurer and a Board Member of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES). He is a Presbyter and the Treasurer of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ramseyer Congregation, Taifa. Yaw is also a Board Member and the Treasurer of Rotary Club, Accra Westlands. Yaw served as an executive member of the University Christian Fellowship (UCF) and the Methodist Presby Union (MPU) when he was a student at University of Ghana.

Yaw is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (CA). He also holds Masters’ degree from the University of Cambridge, UK.

Mrs. Francisca Ahwireng – Vice Chairperson

Brief Profile of Mrs. Francisca Ahwireng

Pastor Mrs. Francisca Ahwireng is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES).

Francisca is the CEO of two entities – Emsca Consults and WireD Innovations Ltd. She has great passion for Customer Service and believes in transforming workplace culture through targeted training, coaching and mentoring. She also oversees WireD Innovations Ltd, a co-working place ideal for Entrepreneurs, Expats and Researchers, Project Teams and Students who need dedicated space for short term rental/use.

Before her resignation from Barclays Bank in December 2017, she was the Service Experience Manager for Retail Banking – responsible for driving the customer service culture and experience in the Branch network of the Bank.

Mrs. Ahwireng is an alumnus and holds Bachelor’s (Publishing Studies) and Master of Arts in Ministry (Theological Studies) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Trinity Theological Seminary respectively.

Whiles at the KNUST, she was an active member of the Inter hall Christian Fellowship (IHCF) and served two terms as the secretary to the Fellowship. She also served as the Secretary to the Executive Body of the Students Chaplaincy Council of KNUST.  

Pastor Francisca is currently serving as the Administrator at Calvary Worship Centre, Ghana, where she worships. She is married to Pastor Emmanuel Ahwireng and they are blessed with two daughters.

She loves the LORD and is very passionate at helping young people discover and fulfil their God-given mandate – living lives worthy of our Christian testimony and impacting our societies positively.

Rev. Martin Adu Obeng – Member

Rev. Dr. Martin Adu Obeng was trained as a Mechanical Engineer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He worked with the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES) for 9 years as Travelling Secretary. He had further studies at Wheaton College, Illinois in Biblical Theology. He taught at Christian Service College in Kumasi and furthered his education at the University of Cape Coast. Rev. Dr. Obeng teaches Old Testament at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon. He is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and pastoring (as Minister in Charge) the Trinity United Church, Legon. He is married to Veronica and has 3 adult children.

Rev. Victor Yeboah Gyabaah– Member

Rev. Victor Yeboah Gyabaah is currently the Acting Campus Ministry Director of GHAFES. Until his appointment, he had been working as the Training Secretary and Zonal Ministry Coordinator for the South West Zone of GHAFES since 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Ghana-Legon, Accra as well as a Master of Arts in Ministry from the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, Accra. Victor, for two consecutive years, served as the Vice President of the University Christian Fellowship (UCF), Legon. Traditionally, he is affiliated to the Roman Catholic Church. But currently, he is a member and one of the pastors at the University Interdenominational Church in the University of Cape Coast. He is married to Abigail Gyabaah and blessed with three children.

Hannah Agbozo– General Counsel

Mrs. Hannah Agbozo oversees Tullow Ghana’s legal and corporate affairs functions with the objective of protecting the company’s interest. She is also the Associate General Counsel of Tullow Ghana, supporting the Board of Directors with legal advice. She was an executive of GHAFES during her time at University of Ghana – Legon.

Kwesi Amanor – Member

Mr. Kwesi Amanor is currently the General Manager of Blue Ocean Investments Limited. He began his career at Tema Offshore Mooring Limited in 2006 as an Admin Officer and rose through the ranks quite rapidly to become the Deputy General Manager in 2009. He was a member of GHAFES during his time at KNUST and became the SNEC Secretary during his second year. He was also a member of Gospel Explosion, the music wing of the fellowship. He is married to Benita, they have two children; Nasya and Jedd

Frances Owusu Daaku – Member

Prof. Mrs. Frances Owusu-Daaku is an Associate Professor in Social Pharmacy, former Head of the Department of Clinical and Social Pharmacy, and former Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is also a member of FIP (International Pharmacists Federation) and a founding Fellow of the Ghana College of Pharmacists. She is married to Dr. Owusu-Daaku.

Rosemond Boohene -Member

Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Aboagyewa Boohene is the Director of the Centre for International Education, University of Cape Coast and immediate past Head of Management Studies Department and Vice Dean of the School of Business, University of Cape Coast. She is an Associate Professor of entrepreneurship and a Management Consultant with more than eighteen (18) years’ experience. She was a member of GHAFES-UCC from 1989 to 1993. She also served as the Treasurer and Auditor for GHAFES at the same institution. She is married with four children

Kwasi Dartey-Baah – Member

Dr. Kwasi Dartey-Baah is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School and Head of the Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management (OHRM). He holds a PhD in Leadership and Human Resource Development from Trinity College Newburgh, USA and Canterbury University, United Kingdom and engineering degrees from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and the Imperial College, London. He is a scholar of the Center for Promoting Ideas, USA, fellow of the Ghana Institute of Management; a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK; a member of the Institution of Highways and Transport; UK and a corporate member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE). He chaired the Ghana Institution of Engineers Strategic Planning Committee from 2014 to 2015. 

Bismark Ofosu Amoah – SNEC Chairman

Mr. Bismark Ofosu Amoah joined the Board in April 2019 as the new Chairman of Students National Executive Committee (SNEC).  Bismark is the current President of the Inter-Hall Christian Fellowship (IHCF) of GHAFES, KNUST, Kumasi.  Bismark is a fifth year Doctor of Pharmacy student. Bismark, during his leisure time, enjoys writing, reading and dancing.

Priscilla Opokua Nimako – SNEC Secretary

Ms. Priscilla Opokua Nimako joined the Board in April 2019 as the new Students National Executive Committee (SNEC) Secretary. Priscilla is the current Secretary of GHAFES University of Ghana, Accra City Campus. Priscilla is a level 200 English and Sociology student. Her hobbies include singing and reading.
